Do you ever check your partners bank?
« on: 20 September 2011, 21:22 »
I just did for the first time in ages because I'm running lower than normal this month because I didn't get my full salary last month and still have a few bills coming out, no wonder my f@cking bank is low  Seems she's forgot about the small fortune in her account and been rinsing mine!

She says "oh but I transferred you £100 the other day..."
Yeah, that was for the weekly shopping that came back out the next day! Cheeky cow!

Um.... sore subject for me to.  I find having separate accounts and a joint just for the bills helps manage things..

Bellend, don't follow in your family's footsteps, should a relationship go sour, you really don't want to be worrying about the safety of your cash!

All comes down to trust and how you have your payments for bills etc sorted. Split everything 50/50 I say!

Dont, whatever you do, try giving them advice on how to manage their money, especially credit/store cards  :lipsrsealed:

They fail to see that witholding £1000 in savings whilst having £1000 outstanding on their credit card (an no other way of repaying it) is a bad idea

I don't think a semi will give the same results

  @ Sam

We used to have a joint account, had a silly over draft which we kept going into, we also had our own bank accounts from before we were married/lived together so closed the joint one, paid off the over draft in full and carried on using our old ones that had no over draft at all in order to help get control of our finances again because we were spending more than we were taking in each month.

Having 2 seperate accounts also help us manage our money easier, I find. One of the directors at our company has 3 accounts, 1 for fuel & car related bills (Alfa owner), 1 for other bills, 1 for food. He gave me the idea of doing this and it works well for us. Or so I thought, might have to stop giving her so much of my money  Not a bad balance for an stay at home mum

Chris, I told her to get rid of the store cards and even had to cut them up because she couldn't bring herself to do it when we first started sorting our sh!t out

I dont look at the wifes account cos its none of my business, another reason I dont look is she takes home 4-5k a month more than I do so I dont want to be left in tears.
