For quite a few months now I've been getting a bad vibration through my gearstick along with my clutch and brake pedals. The vibration will get worse and worse as the revs increase (not necessarily the speed but the revs). It will still vibrate when i rev the car when its non-moving standing still so it can't be a buckled wheel and will also vibrate when revving in netural gear. I've also had both dogbone bushes replaced which made no difference.
I've also noticed every few of months my car's oil warning light will come on and i need to top it up, so it's loosing oil somewhere, i cant see any leak under the sump unless it's very very tiny, I've replaced the plug and washer and it still happens. Could it be burning oil? I don't know if the oil and vibrations are somehow linked.
I had a theory that there might be a tiny crack somewhere that's creating pressure as the engine revs higher and allowing oil to leak? But that's just a total guess to be honest as I'm no expert. Can anyone help me?
The car is a MK4 Golf 1.6 16v
Thanks.
