Cheers again people...I have since asked about the water pump. Also, thought I'd get an independant to quote...they spoke about rollers and all sorts?! the whole thing costing about £489. Sod it, I'll stick with the MD's!

Roller tensioner and two further rollers in the independant's quote. MD quoted 50 quid for water pump and coolant. So, 39 for the m.o.t...289 for the cambelt and 50 for pump and coolant.

Sounds a good price.

Cambelt changes seem to differ between dealerships. My book says 4 years 60k, it should be checked then every 20k thereafter if fine.
My mk5 has full service history and not been done when i bought it at 71k but had been checked. It is first thing on my list to get done though. Booked in for end of month for peace of mind.

Yes, happy with that. Good service too and courtesy car included. So much for the other guys claiming to be a third cheaper than the main dealer!  :smug:

£289 for the op sounds pretty reasonable - even with a mate providing me the cam belt set and getting it done at a trusted local independent it still worked out at about £200-250 for me (can't remember exactly now, was the start of the year). All that faffing to get to the cambelt. The local stealer wanted £450.

My mate also advised me that it's worth considering getting your water pump replaced at the same time - it's the same lengthy process of dismantling to get to that should it fail at a later date, so apparently VAG dealers working on the 2.0TFSI advise you to replace both cam kit and pump together.

Cambelt..water pump and m.o.t. set me back 387 in total. They did say they had an offer on for the cambelt at the mo. Not sure if that's just my dealer or nationwide. But seems like a good deal from what I've read.
