R-Tech - A Big THANK You (MKIV 130 GT TDi)
« on: 13 September 2011, 22:14 »
Golf GT TDi 130 bhp

OK back from a day out with the R-Tech guys, sorry didn't get all your names :$.

[Edit: just seen them in your sig. Nick Rob and Pip!]

Thanks for a great day.

Was booked in for 12:00, but roadworks on the M1 coming from North West London, so ended up being 30 mins late, thanks for fitting me in still.

When I got there Nicks MKIV was up on the rollers so I just watched as that went through it's paces.

The work I ended up having done in the end was,

1.Pipercross Performance Foam filter

2.Uprated Polyurethane Dog Bone Mount Bush

3. Remap

Air filter first, and Pip was surprised at the virtually new air filter being replaced, but Pipercross it had to be.

Then the Dogbone mount bushes, which I must admit, had been changed 2 weeks previously, snapped the original, but I wanted the uprated bushes on, with planned future use of the car, so again gave the surprised guys the go ahead to fit, a few niggly problems which the guys in usual manner stuck with until the end to sort out.

Then next up was the diagnostics, the guys went through the car thoroughly and a relief to find that the map could go ahead, BUT there were a few things I needed to sort out before the full benefits of the remap could be realised..

1.Intercooler Pipe has a major leak

2.Intercooler Cracked

3.Actuator to Turbo VAC pipe split

That said car was remapped as promised so no disappointment there ;)

Rolling Road results

Before 141Bhp 247lbft (I had the pipercross fitted when this was taken!)

After    173Bhp 327lbft

I am well impressed and the proof was in the first test drive...... It was wet so I expected wheel spin but F*&K me car pulled from around 2500rpm upwards in second gear onwards, that torque is a "mother"

The drive home was that "Knowing Grin" inducing, with instant response from the Right foot pedal, cruising at 40mph 1 minute then accelerating to the "Speed Limit"  in an instant, surprising a few road users in the process, especially when going from speed restricted stretches on the M1. The acceleration is just linear no sudden bursts just smooth all the way.

Thanks R-Tech,

P.S. Thanks Nick for the ride in your beast, yes I was pressing that imaginary brake pedal from the passenger seat F******************k Me, could that beast move, revs like nothing I've experienced and pulls like Train on Steroids (if your plan was to get me spending more money, it worked lol!) those Petrol Golf Turbos aren't bad at all :P
