Reverse lights not working
« on: 08 May 2003, 23:07 »
:'(
Please can you help a complete novice ??
My reverse lights (both) are not working, I have checked the bulbs and fuse both of which are fine. My buddies have suggested the gear box switch, but how do I do that ??
Cheers

Your buddies could be right.
The switch sits on top of the gearbox. You should find an electrical lead that comes from it near the selector housing...........follow the clutch cable down and it'll be behind that.
You might find its just one of the wires thats come adrift.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I located the offending switch straight away. Unfortunately no sign of damage.
Is it as simple as taking the two nuts off which fix the switch to the gearbox and fitting a new one ??
I don't want to take it off and knack the gearbox
Cheers

Dont worry your only touching the top of the box, not going inside. it is as simple as it looks. Theres a contact inside the switch housing. check its clean and in tact.
