Remap advice
« on: 12 September 2011, 00:02 »
Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice for a friend. He's just bought a Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback with the VAG 2.0TDI Lump in it. It's the 140bhp output so I'm guessing this is the same engine as in the lower output GT TDI?

I have had a few petrol cars remapped so I know a little bit about it but as far as diesels are concerned I'm a novice. I have told him to expect around 170bhp with a decent map. Is this realistic?

Also, could anyone shed some light on the following:

1. He would like his power to be available lower down the rev range. Currently he gets the best pull around 2.5k-3.5k revs. Ideally he'd like this brought down to between 1750-2500rpm. Is this possible with just a map?
2. Secondly what's the situation with DPF's on these engines - do they have them? does it need to come off? etc.

I was going to put this in the TDI section but I don't know if it will get looked at in there but Mod's please feel free to move it if I've posted it in the wrong bit. Also, I figured the Mk5 guys will have a bit more experience with this engine than the Mk6 crew.

Thanks,

It will remap to about 180-185bhp which is better than you expected...

It doesn't suffer from DPF as IIRC that is just the 170bhp model but maybe the newer 140bhp one has how old is the car ?

Not sure about bringing in the power much earlier as its turbo so when the turbo is fully spooled that will be when the power is there but christ knows these remap whiz kids can do an awful lot.. Drop The Doc or RTech a pm and ask

The car is a 60 plate, don't know any more than that. That's pleasing about the power. He'll be chuffed to bits

Will send out a few pm's.

Thanks,

Your right in saying that no one will see it in the TDI section so will leave it in here. The Doc has himself a TDI so will be knowledgeable, we shall leave you in his more than capable hands.

60 reg will have a DPF and a tricore protected ECU.  Perfectly tunable but we would need the car in the workshop rather than a mobile tune.  I suspect it's the same for other tuners that can tune these too.

I agree and while most tuners tend to do these at base CARBON can do these ECU's mobile
