blue ultraviolet 90 spec seats
« on: 11 September 2011, 23:22 »
i have found a pretty nice set of these up for £100, are they worth the money? my front drivers seat is very worn but the others are pretty mint, i just prefer the ultraviolets as they seem more recaro like to me, what could i expect to sell the rainbows on for? they are for a 4 door, genuine 90 spec. cheers for any help/advice!
i'd rather push a vw than drive a french car!

UV's are the one. £100-£250 for a 3 door set in reasonable condition (with door cards)

Recaro's anything from £600-£1000 (top end being corrado UV's)

You would say that

Price is always on condition £100 for a mint set of any GTI seats is a good price... So Snap his hand off...

To be brutal tough your set is worth peanuts if its as bad as you make out.. You MAY get someone who wants a passenger seat to try and re-trim a drivers seat but they are few and far between....

Also Aqua's only suit certain cars IMO...

Like Ken said, rainbows are only good for spare parts nowadays.

I bought a passenger seat from a 5 door to make good my 3 doors drivers seat. I'd be tempted to make your rainbow drivers seat mint by doing a foam and cover swap yourself, then chuck the rest away. Dull as it seems, you'll be more likely to find someone who will pay good money for a mint drivers seat on its own, than you would someone who wants the lot.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

thanks for the input guys, i am also thinking about polo gti seats, the ones with a big number 1 on them, its what are in my polo gti and i love them, just dont know if they will fit as the golf is in storage at a different address at present and i'm driving the polo til i sell it, so dont have the oppertunity to whip one out and test fit it, i think the colour combo would go nice as i have a 91 tornado red 5 dr, if i can find out if they fit or can be made to fit without too much grief i will buy a 4dr set of them instead, am not sure if the uv's will go with the colour of my car, and its only the seats that are on offer, not the door cards, got to change them whatever tho as i really dont like the style of the rainbow seats, too much like my first 86' 8v gti that i had, good for the period but i know by 1991 seat technology had moved on somewhat!
