Which broadband provider?
« on: 10 September 2011, 22:28 »
I'm moving home next week and was just wondering which broadband providers everyone was using as im about to change from my current Virgin media package who give me a good solid 20mb service minimum daily, id love to swap my account straight over to my new address but this isn't an option at present as it's a new build property and Virgin haven't laid any cables as yet - Gutted!
Sooo it looks like il have to utilise the pre-fitted BT phone lines for my internet unfortunately, the only thing is im quite concerned at the poor service im likely to receive now in comparison. I download a lot of music and video files so want the best possible connection. What's the fastest (obviously it's dependent on my address and distance from the exchange), who's the most reliable and what should i expect to pay for a unlimited use service?

I've used PlusNet for the last 12 months

Not the quickest (living in the valley's does no favours) but it s been very reliable.  I've had zero downtime since being with them   Also use them for my phone line and my total bill is less than £20 per month

If you go with them let me know as if you say you were referred you get a small discount

Also customer services are 24hr UK based, so if you have a problem with the line (like I did), and once you ask a friend to obtain Plusnet's customer service phone number (and you have no internetz, duh), you can moan at an English person for a change

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Plus the online account (although not the best of layouts) breaks down, in detail, your internet usage, phone calls etc... quite handy if you like bollocking the mrs for calling mobiles from the landline
