Hi i am new to the forum and was told to talk to you guys, i have just brought a 2000 plate golf 1.8t gti. It has come with some dyno print outs showing it is putting out 166bhp. I dont no if its ever had a remap is there any way of telling ? i think it has an r32 exhaust but not sure on other mods, will my bhp improve if i did a custom remap with you ? or do i need to do other mods before getting a remap. I just want to be on the 200bhp mark

Thanks Guys

A custom map setup would not give any more peak power as such, it allows the tuner to extract lost power hidden in inherent flat spots, and to compensate for a weak actuator spring and flater cam profiles from cam wear ect...

The main thing to make good power is to have a healthy running engine, good fuel, good spark plugs and an air tight boost/breather system.  To complement any 1.8t remap it's recommended that an uprated DV is fitted (forge 007p) and a good air filter like the Pipercross in box panel filter (£34).

Peak power depends on you engine and turbo, as you have a year 2000 golf then there is a very good chance you will be running a ko3 turbo on an AGU or ARZ engine code.  The Ko3 turbo will only run around 199bhp maxed out.  A stage1 remap will be good for 190bhp 220lbft and a stage 2 199bhp 240lbft (but with a much stronger midrange power band)
you will only get good number if your actuator had not worn too much.

For power over 200bhp and upto 240bhp 260lbft then you will need the turbo from the later 2001 AUM golf which fits direct to your engine.

Where are you based?

All you need for Stage 1 is a nice healthy engine :afro:

Things to get sorted are your coilpacks; recall on most VW engines co check with your local dealer.  Also the DV or diverter valve can split but again the dealer part is revised and can easily cope with a Stage 1 map :afro:
