Looking after my alloys....
« on: 08 September 2011, 16:32 »
I've had some of these on my car for a few months now, http://www.alloywheels.com/product.asp?P_ID=1038&V_ID=25723&strKeywords=5x100%20et30,5x100%20et33,5x100%20et35,5x100%20et37,5x100%20et38,5x100%20et40,5x100%20et42,5x100%20et45,5x100/57-1%20et35,5x100/57-1%20et38,5x100/57-1%20et40,5x100/57-1%20et42&strSort=Low&Make=Volkswagen&Model=Golf%20Mk4&strSize=18%22

One thing that bugs me is when I clean the car the wheels if not dried, on the chrome bits look horrid and look like it's going rusty. Get some polish on them and it comes off mostly, but after polishing them there are very slight surface scratches.

Is there something I can spray on to coat/protect the wheels? So that when it rains/gets cleaned etc they don't pit, scratch etc.

Thanks

Take a look in the detailing section regarding wheel sealants. I am yet to use any my self, but have some waiting! You can get nano technology ones which are like a liquid based product or you can get waste/paste types one which you apply then buff off and they both act in a similar way to a layer or sealant/wax does on your car.

Good luck

fk1000 is what i'm testing now, i was gonna buy a dedicated wheel sealant, but the fk1000 can be used as a sealant on paint as well as working on wheels.

gives a nice finish on the paint as well,

18 quid for a tin and that'll last a few years at least i'd of thought
