misfire or i duno?!
« on: 07 September 2011, 14:55 »
First had the problem a few weeks ago would only appear when I started the car in the morning when it was cold and a bit Damn, and after 5 minutes or driving it would go.
Basically the engine you could feel was down on power and was making a lot more noise through the exhaust (sounded like a subaru)
Now though after doing a big drive up the country the problem is permanent. My fuel economy is roughly the same but down on power at all revs. I had new plugs and leads not that long ago, and just checked them they all fine.
wondering what else it could be? And does it sound like just a simple misfire?

Check the points for a build up of crap, also check the gap from the points to the rotor :)

Ok lol, the bits that allow the spark to go from the dizzy to the leads. That better :p

I had this Monday. First time its happened, and coincided with it pissing down with rain all day. Would only really happen in first and second when under heavy load though. (lots of hill starts near me). All has been ok since though, I thought it may be a damp coil/leads/dizzy cap so have put spares of all in the boot if/when it happens again.
