Things like good vintages (ages), particular things to look for I.e. rust in other than the obvious places, gremlins, how cross compatible things are etc.

I've been inspired since action and want to do some reading before going anywhere with some ideas I have.

Aye, I've been on the maintenance section for a large portion of last night. Good reading to be had.

Just need to keep my eyes on the prize

Yeah we've got one of the best sections for info with very few cars to use it these days.  Need more old skoolerz.   nearly converted Chuff but he couldn't do it in the end after a good hunt for his prize... He found some great cars though.

What are you looking for?... PM me if needs be.

mk1ownersclub, this place.
All the stuff you have asked about is either covered on the main page of Mk1ownersclub for example  buyers guides (were for rust etc), what to look for, differences between ages best years etc. As well as a forum full of experts Or has been covered on here at some point.

Mk6 GTI  &  Mk1 GTI
34 years of GTI ownership.

Sound, just wondered if there were any other untapped sources that won't come up in a search.
