I`m getting what i can best describe is a hollow knocking sound which i only notice when the engines cold. It only happens when i`m pulling away and only last for about a mile or so, Its starting to annoy me now not knowing what it is.

Does it relate to wheel speed or engine, roughly what area of the car?

I`d say it relates to the engine speed and it sounds like its coming from the engine bay

Get the oil pressure checked but it sounds like a big end bearing problem.

If there any play in the power steering pump pulley? in my old car i got a knocking sort of noise at idle, and the bearing in the pump had worn and allowing the pulley to move.

Does it smoke when you first start it? It could be Piston slap or small end bearing wear.
