If your serious about it, then your going to want a complete different engine. Get the mk4 1.8T and bang it in. You are going to need to spend serious money to get that sort of power from an 8v!!

 Well you've already made a mistake buying a Mk3 then!

It'll take a lot of work to get a Mk3 up to 295bhp! You could go down the route of a 1.8T from a TT/LCR/S3 (225bhp standard), with a hybrid turbo, big FMIC, 3"downpipe, de-cat, remap etc. You'll still be splashing a lot of cash and spending a lot of time getting it up to that spec, a Mk3 will not handle almost 300bhp through the front wheels, a LSD will help but the torque steer will be horrific.

Simply, you've got the wrong base car. Sell the Mk3 and buy something with more power to begin with

got around 250 hp (genuine not bull sh!t figures) at the mo in my mk3.. wil hopefully have a bit more at the end of the month after the custom remap is completed

TBH any more power and it will be difficult to drive.. iv have serious amounds of torque, over 280ibft..

to get to this you need the S3/LCR lump as mentioned above

I'd love to know how he managed to tune his 8v engine up to 295bhp, Glen aka Ess_Three has spent thousands on his 16v and has only just managed to crack 200bhp mark, even then that wasn't reliable power.

I don't know of any turbo'd 8v's though so can't really comment on the power that it could produce with forced induction....not even sure which turbo's would fit :undecided:

Would have to be  quite a big turbo to get this sort of power. Possible but costly and you need to be able to have the skills. The fact that you're asking the questions looks like you haven't done enough research
