Fitting Mk3 Rear Calipers?

ive done a search and can find no posts on this subject. so is it possible to fit the mk3 gti rear calipers onto the mk2 gti? my rears keep seizing and ive heard this is a common problem. we have rebuilt the rears 3 times now and getting to be very annoying!!

anyone know if this is possible?

Yes its a straight swap. You can even fit mk4 rear calipers if you buy braided brake lines.

if your car is earlier than 88 then you'll need post 88 handbrake cables

ok a few pics when i changed mine for mk3 ones. Its a direct swap for the years 89 onwards...

Check out the diffrence. The shiney MK3 ones have an internal mechanism so it doesnt seize up like my old ones

thanks for the replies everyone, they are very helpful and appreciated. my golf is 1988 and has the digifant engine which i think is the later 88 model?

you'll know the difference when you look at them the early ones have the handbreak cable going over the top of the caliper, the later ones have it going under. you can fit them to early mk2's but you just need to buy new longer handbreak cables from the late ones..
