Anti roll bar bushes
« on: 03 September 2011, 20:52 »
Is this going to be a complete subframe removal or can i just lower the rear of it?
Bit annoying because i have an mot due (even though its never been picked up) and i also have a new engine to go in soon which would make it a lot easier job once its out.
Tried undoing the wishbone bolt + the 13mm bracket on the roll bar and levering the lot down today, what was i thinking. It couldnt be that easy.

Its a lot easier if you drop the subframe (not fully, just enough for clearance) but that does mean removing the bolts completely so you need to support the engine properly (plank of thick wood across the engine bay and some sturdy rope did the trick for me). Just be carefull when putting the rear bolts back in, its very easy to break the welds on the captive nuts that hold the subframe in place on the chassis (guess how I know that ). If you do kill the captive nuts, you can get to them through a gromet in the passenger compartment on either side and replace them with normal nuts and washers.
