MK3 Golf 1.8 non starting issue!
« on: 02 September 2011, 08:53 »
I came to drive my car this morning and It wouldn't start. There was power to the ignition, as in the stereo started up but no noise from the engine bay! I tried a couple of times and then it fired up and ran as normal. Am I right in thinking this is a problem with the starter motor? It has done this once before and I don't want to get caught out, should I just replace it or can it be fixed? Cheers in advance

After reading into possible causes I am now thinking it could be the ignition switch? Can anyone tell me how I can distinguish between the to possible problems?

Check voltage to the starter motor. If there is voltage there, its that!
