My Mk2 1300 4speed - ABF, pic heavy

see i was put off with the 020 box as i drive very hard and people said it wont last so got abf flywheel and vr6 sachs clutch sitting here 

how you find the conversion hard ??

you got any ABF parts ??

The conversion was ok tbh but Im a mechanic so kinda biased towards enjoying this kinda stuff! 

I weighed up the gearbox option for ages but came to the conclusion that the diff bolts are the weakness on the 020's and unless the box gets shock loaded by being airbourne or dumping clutch I think it will live! or hope! I think the clutch will be the weakest link on mine although it was new its not an uprated item.

I think all I have left ABF is the gearbox, downpipe and the pas setup with the pump + ally brackets etc I'll have another rummage see what I find

see my gearbox has been fettled with and it now has a diesel 4th and 5th fitted by a gearbox place for my friend who had all the work done and before it was fit to his car he changed his mind and sold it to me 

do you not fancy fitting PAS ?? all you need is a subframe from someone breaking a mk2 with the rack and all the necessary bits fitted and get a mk2 PAS pump and put the abf pulley on the mk2 pump  probably about 70 quid to do it

Definately a better suited box then!!!

I will bear it in mind for the future. I think finding a pas mk2 breaking would be my best bet to get whats needed. The last complete pas conversion I saw on ebay fetched fair money and I nearly have the full setup!

The abf brackets and pump should be fine connected to mk2 lines and rack?

im not 100% ive been told to use the mk2 pump as its better suited to the rack compared to the mk3 one and its a straight bolt on so why not lol

or you could use the mk3 subframe (which sits lower for clearance) mk3 rack.. lines and pump..

A   Mk3 subframe ftw. Good build. Were bouts in lincolnshire r yyou, as I havnt seen your old mk2 about

Done anymore on this? How come you didn't detail the 'bay when the engine was out?

Simeon thanks it took a bit of pre-planning and effort to turn it around in the time I had. The space I did the work on wasnt mine so didnt want it dragging on and getting in the way!

The bay got a steam clean but unfortunately didnt have time for engine detailling. Ive since moved the car to 4 new locations and it still cant stay there so unfortunately it is going to the scrappers friday.
 After a failed stint on the bay Ive given up attempting to sell if its going to make cr*p money id rather scrap it!! No messing around, roll over the bridge get paid!!

If anybody is interested in anything on the vehicle PM me with your requirements and what you are willing to pay and I will get back to you. It HAS to be gone by friday so be quick if theres anything you could use. Can post items or can be collected. Thought I might offer it here. I may listen to offers on the car as a whole but you will need to bring steels as the teledials and adaptors have gone and it has no tax so must be dolly'd or trailered.
