Poor carb performance

Hi guys,

Need your thoughts.

Having a few issues with my GL.

It's a 1983 Mk1 JB engine 1457cc with a Weber carb as a replacement for the 1B3 (36tlp I think).

Problems include
1. Hesitations - Say we are under full throttle, then if I suddenly reduce throttle to 50% it jolts and judders before continuing on fine.
2. Planting my foot from idle in any gear results in kangerooing, i.e. power, no power, power, no power but not quite as little as before etc..

All I can say is it's a sine wave of acceleration until about 2000rpm in first where it seems to settle down but this judder/kangerooing happens at any RPM in any gear - just less noticeable at higher RPMs.

Anybody got any ideas what it is?

Really getting to me as it was running perfectly for years!

Also any carb specialists I can take the car to in the south of the UK?

Has the filler neck been changed?
Has it got an inline fuel filter? If it hasnt get one on there and see if it fills up with rust.

Both are clean.

Had a look in the tank as the filler neck hasn't been changed yet, but i've got the part ready.

I *think* it is an air leak, i'm going to try and find it.
