Even the makers of big luxury cars are reducing the number of models with big engines in favour of smaller turbo or super charged engines.
Its just down to the cost of fuel.
A big engine is more weight to haul around and if you pile on the miles, it can be a big difference.
Maybe it is the price of fuel thats putting people off but the difference between my VR and the 2.0l 8v lump I had before regarding fuel consumption for my daily commute is around £5 a week more........
I can live with that just for that VR sound if nothing else
So although only £5 doesn't seem like much, after a year that £260. Which is a chunk of cash in anyone's book... or new tyres, service, cheap laptop. Or maybe its the difference between being able to enjoy a drink after work on a friday, or not.
I only do about 8000miles a year, but I'm considering going for a diesel next time round. Boring maybe, but then I already have an Audi estate
