« on: 16 September 2003, 19:03 »
When i do my vr6 headgasket next i'm gonna take loads of photos of the job, i hope! Probably do the same when Modulator and i do his front suspension. What does anyone think of doing a section for this? anyone could do this when doing any overhaul jobs. Could give valuable information?

Thats exactly what I have done with my gearbox stripdown............taken notes and photo's. Came across quite a few Haynes manual shortfalls.

Yep Haynes don't even skim the surface at all these days. The older manuals are quite good if you can get hold of them. Can you post the pics of getting the gearbox housing and diff housing apart?  ;D

Agreed, the older manuals are much better. I had a look at MK1_BOY's Haynes manual that he has bought for his Golf and its totally different to mine and only half the thickness! It had far less info and as for the wiring diagrams.......they were next to useless.
I'm glad I have the Bentley as a back up.......certainly helped with the gearbox strip down.
Talking of which I'll do some work on that now, see if I can get something uploaded.
