Free Visual Health Check ... what's it all about?!?
« on: 25 August 2011, 06:27 »
Is it just me or does anyone else get really annoyed when your car goes in for a service and they quote this statement.

garage:
'We will also carry out a full FREE visual health check on your car whilst it's being serviced'

me:
'You mean, you won't be checking tyre tread depth wear, oil level, brake pad thickness, operation of lights etc (for starters) as part of the normal service?... What exactly do you check as part of the service my car is booked in for?'

Surely one of the consumer watchdogs would be interested in this, it's a complete con.

I take my car in to get this done now and again.  Stealer tends to replace bulbs and the like for free as part of it as they can't be bothered with the paper work.  Its by no means a proper pre-MOT but if there is something obvious you'll get a heads up a month or so before the MOT.

Got to claw your money back somehow...

You're right though - the service should be stand-alone.
