Off to New York in March :)
« on: 24 August 2011, 14:44 »
Me and my gf have just booked a trip to new york next march for my birthday. Staying in the hotel metro as it turned out cheaper then a couple of others

Never been to new york, what should we definately do and what should we maybe do?

Also will buying things like ipods/ipads/ps vita etc be cheaper? Would possibly be looking at buying an ipad while im over there?

Thanks

p.s. also any tips when there :afro:

Depends on exchange rates but will be cheaper yes, although if customs get you then no.

Central park, times square, empire state, rockafella (quieter than empire with awesome views) statue of liberty (dont bother with the boat that docks, get one that goes past) shops, china town, little italy, etc etc

We walked everywhere, very easy to navigate and you see more.

DON't use taxi's!!

Take the Sub way. Much nicer, cleaner and easier to use then the underground.

When we went in May, we went on the boat trip to Liberty Island and had lunch (Defo worth it). Take the tour buses, see lots and can get on and off as and when you like. If your a Honkey like us, then you may not want to go into Harlem, we were the only white people in McDonalds (out of 30) and thought we were going to get shot!   We also spent a fortune on a helicopter ride!

Central Park is a must, rent out some push bikes too, much fun can be had with them!

Times Square, empire state building, rocerfella and just stroll round.. China town is amazing, don't be afraid to ask them what they have when they walk up to you and say "Gucci, prada, handbags, rolex, you want?" Awesome experience!!!

If you go into a restuarant ask to see the menu before you order!! We ended up spending $140 on some steaks as we didn't realise. Oh and don't leave a tip as they add that in the bill the cheeky fcuks!

Nicest people i've ever met too :afro:

When we were over they had killed Bin Laden, there was some tension around you could feel it!

Street got locked down and we had the pleasure of seeing Obama drive past us

Enjoy it, should be awesome!
