Alloy gaters on 18" monza twos
« on: 23 August 2011, 22:23 »
Probably just like many of us, I'm always massively conciois that my lovely diamond faced 18" monza wheels are rather susceptible to keening and wondered if anyone on here has ever trieda set if these ;
http://www.alloygator.co.uk

Seems like a good idea, and though I'd be after black ones, they'd probably look good with the red stripe to match the gti trim too

Be interested to hear what people thought ?

Cheers

Graeme

Yeh but those kerb's can jump out on you :smiley:

In all fairness looking on the Aligator's website gallery they don't look half bad fitted. I'm not into these coloured striped ones though.

Black looks best imo.

Chap near me has a set of red ones on his GTI and I must admit they look quite tidy and will be added to mine once refurbed.

Terrible photos ahoy but hopefully gives you the idea (afraid mine are the 17" monzas):

They're a bit marmite in the reaction I get - most people like them and have actually come up to me to comment on how well they set off the alloys (they go with the red calipers / grill trim / red & silver nurburging badge on rear), but one friend is not keen. Everyone can't deny they do the job though - was forced against a kerb on a narrow village road by an impatient truck within a week of ownership. Alloygator took the brunt of the damage. Not been able to perfectly restore with a stanley as they claim is possible, but still far better than £50 on refurbing the alloy...

(Edited with de-regged pics before some chimp wanders onto the forum to clone my reg. :D)

With all due respect I think them red ones look ridiculous.

No worries - I already acknowledged they're a matter of personal taste. I find tinted windows and dodgy 3rd party wheels similarly tacky but I wouldn't expect everyone else to go by my opinion - it'd be a pretty dull world if everyone thought the same. :)
