Len, the trouble is, the front indicators use 21W bulbs. You've replaced them with orange capless 5W wedge bulbs from Halfords.

That's a 16W difference.

The hazards always flash the right speed, don't ask why, I don't know but they do.

You need 21W bulbs in the front. Have you put them in the sidelight holders?

They need to be bright enough to pass the MOT.

If you feel 5W is bright enough, look on eBay for LED (I know you aren't using LED with the capless Halford jobbies) but search for LED bulb resistor.

They go inline and put the resistance back up so they will flash correctly.

HTH. :)

Where all my moneys went.

Cheers Josho!
I understand now! Great info!

Yea I didnt realise they were supposed to be the side light! When I was searching for the headlights I assumed I was looking at all the same thing! Why it needs a sidelight as well with the angels I really dont know!

Will let ya know if I can get correct bulbs.

isn't that to do with the flasher unit...

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turn-signal2.htm

Might not be like that in "modern" cars, but a similar electrical system I suspect.

relays specified by load...

Not enough watts = wrong flashing interval... (oooh, errr)

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Yea I realise that now! Or at least I did when I saw the wiring!
But think I would have still bought them but would have been prepared for this problem.

when used as indicators they will alter their timing if the resistance changes

when being opeated by the hazard switch it uses a separate integral timer to control pulse length.

in short... hazards will always run at the same speed no matter what, where as indicators flash speed can be changed by altered circuit resistance

Update!

Ordered some bulbs on line hoping they would fit! NOPE!!!
Yesterday I was searching again and found some resistor things!
So got one today and fitted it and no blooming difference!

Have rang the company and now waiting for their Tech guy to ring back!
Maybe I have wired it in wrong! No instructions with it so the could be the problem!
