Anyone done this sticky handbrake fix??
« on: 21 August 2011, 15:23 »
My handbrake occasionally sticks, the internal return springs are too weak...
easy fix, put the car over the pit and free it up with a vice-grips, but a pain in the a$$ to have to keep doing it every month!

Basically I'm wondering if the mk4 and mk3 handbrake brackets are similar, and if this mod will fit directly on...??
Or do I have to get different springs?

Are you on about freeing up your caliper?

Yes.
When I release the handbrake, the cable slackens from the stop, but the arm doesn't rotate to its 'off' position. Its only the handbrake, foot brake releases perfectly.

If I clamp a vice grips over the arm and monkey it up and down a bit it frees up for a few weeks
