any medics or doc's out there
« on: 20 August 2011, 20:13 »
right well i know i should of gone to the doc's by now what have been busy with work
etc so had no chance,
think my problem has come from lifting wrong im a (drayman) so all i do is lift 2 different kind of kegs.
11gallon and the 9gallon,
basicly a couple of weeks ago my back let go when i was lifting the 11gallon at the back of the van, hurt like f*ck but carried on working etc
told me boss so i went out on my deliveries with a mate.2 weeks have past and i have taken a year supply of pain killers etc i even got some of a pall that broke his back and is now off work for life and they did jack sh!t,
the pain i have is in the lower back pretty much dead center and farely deep not a surface pain.
i know have trouble sitting in the car/driving or even being a passenger and with the van and its very difficult even sitting on the sofa.i had to have a lie down for 3.5
hours this afternoon just for a rest, currently sitting on the sofa with 5cushions behind me and still im in pain,
i have tried looking on the web for what could be wrong but to no a-vail.
has anyone had any experiences with back pain etc that could shed some light
thanks
james

You need to see a doctor about this I'm afraid. Either down to A&E or wait until Monday and straight in to your GP.

Does the pain spread anywhere else?
Is it constant?
Is it sharp/stabbing/throbbing?
Does anything make it better or worse?
Have you any numbness or tingling in your legs?

Not if you've taken a years supply of painkillers.

You've made yourself ignorant to the further damage you're causing by not resting it.

See a GP before it's permanent.

Sounds like either a slipped disc or spondylosis brought on by injury and accelerated through lack of self care. Both of these can cause trapped nerves which would be affecting other areas of your body.

In that case then a slipped disc would be top of the differentials list. Have you got an A&E dept near to you? I would recommend getting yourself down there now, as you don't want to risk any further damage. They will be able to examine you properly and give you some proper anaesthesia to help with the pain. Seriously - don't f**k about and get yourself looked over asap.
