Do "trailers" have to be approved?

So I wanna scrap a MK3 soonish. Since it's all stripped and pretty light was thinking of doing a run and taking that and fill the van up with some other metal I've got.

However was thinking of attatching the Golf by the front crossmember to a towbar on the van. It'd be attatched properly and be able to swivel etc. and numberplate and lights on the back.

Just wondering if this will be OK? No engine or anything and as I said the fixing to the van isn't up for discussion, it'll be attatched properly and safely.

Just wondeirng if this is legal, will be on it's back wheels, no brakes though but my dad will be driving so the weights are higher (pre 1997 license).

OK cool. Would literally be up on it's back wheels, no bonnet, wings, engine front wheels/suspension.

Is light though and it's under the laden weight of the van. I've proped it on the towbar and the van hold it's up fine, it's an LT35.

Like I said, a lightboard and numberplate will be displayed.

If it's not taxed then iirc it cannot have it's wheels on a public road. Therefore it will need to be trailored.

if the front two wheels are not on the ground and the rear wheels have legal tread then it is legal and would be classed as a trailer, however if some one is in the drivers seat of the car then I think it would be classed as a vechicle as it is not legal to take people in trailers while moving

TBH I think if its up on it's back 2 wheels only it should be fine.

Fair enough then. Just double checked and as long as the rear tyres are road legal then you will be ok. Just be careful of kurb weight.

Seriousy all the scrappies in SL are watched by DVLA and Police, very easy knick for them atm.
