Help with future job choice please? :)

Evening all.
Well first things first i need to get out of my current job which is currently working for marks and spencer unloading lorries and working in the basement rather then on tills etc. Im 21 and been there since i was 18 however only been full time for just over a year.

While i was there part time i was doing an IT for Multimedia course at uni although lessons where in a local college which was strange but once a week we would have a lesson at uni of herts. The course itself was not what i thought it was (which was biulding, designing websites etc) turned out it was more programming, databases just basic IT which i leant at school and during a levels. This left me very frustrated which made me join m&s full time rather than going onto my final year ( i didnt want to spend the money on not learning much and therefore getting my self into more debt) so decided to leave and earn money fulltime 

Now its getting to the point where getting up a 4 am day in day out isnt fun and doing it for not alot of money either Therefore i need to find a new job however the biggest problem is im really not sure what i want to do although would be open to anything aslong as the money is better then retail. (more money for saving for future, house, flat, car etc....)

I currently have a foundation degree in IT science as the next step is the final year (last year) to get the full Degree. I know alot of people would suggest i go back however what with rising tution fees that really isnt an option anymore.

Anyhelp or ideas would be greatly appreciated (sorry for the long story lol)

Why not apply for the internal M&S management course.

M&S managers are regarded as the best in the business.

Im in the same boat mate. Been working at sainsburys for 3 years now and getting fed up lately. Although im glad i've got a secure job, the pay is just awful. Went to college for 2 years and got some worthless qualifications and dont really wana go to uni and get myself into massive debt. Stuck in a dead end job and i hate it

ye at the end of the day a jobs a jobs but i know and im sure you are the same that i can do better its just a case of finding the right place at the right time lol

@The Mighty Elvi: that was one of my option but tbh im not 100% sure i want to be in retail anymore although my boss said he would try and find out about IT within the business as they have a link with fujitsu, just got to remind him lol

Get an IT job if you can, it sounds as if thats what you wanted to do. Junior level positions pay anywhere from £16k to £21k, do a few basic courses (A+, Network+) part time or with a private college (make sure you get proper tutor led or break/fix training! You don't want to end up with certs and be useless because they brain dumped you to get you to pass the exams and you know nothing practical, just like someone I work with.)

With 3 years good experience and the above certs, in the right company you could be on £25K+.

You can also get to work with some great people and great companies, it's the best part of my job

The management course will place you in all the departments in M&S for about 6 months at a time, iirc.

You can then pick which one you want to stay in.

Put it this way.  The vast majority of staff are women.  Young women. Giggidy!

I used to work with Katherine Jenkins (The singer) and her sister. The long term boyfriend of one of them told me that she liked to take it in the ass.

I'm too much of a gentleman to reveal which.   

I used to have to go in at 05:30 every Sunday, but the perks made up for it.

If I had my time over I'd stay in my field (sprinkler fire protection) but would learn CAD and become a designer who do plans for new installs, refurbs, general works etc... Learn CAD, learn FPCB and FM (American) rules and enjoy the salary.
