playing music in car
« on: 17 August 2011, 19:03 »
hi guys, ok so my car is nearly ready for been on the road! now, i have a cd player but im unsure if it has an aux port, i want to be able to play music from my i phone through car speakers. Now i have heard of these fm transmitters but how do they work? because my cd player will play cds through the speakers, but, will not find any radio station whatsoever just static. my car has an Ariel on top but still i get no radio. so would an fm transmitter still work? also am i supposed to  be plugging in another wire to get radio to work because i cant see any? cheers all

Aerial jack is at the back of the radio. The FM transmitters do work, but are not the best quality. I had one for my last car...........cough.......Focus.............
Will be crap if you have loads of ICE, but fine if its just a bit of music to break up the monotony of being sat in traffic.

P.S, this will probably be moved by one of the moderators.

Just get a head unit with a usb slot, then get a memory stick and chuck a load of tunes on it.

Works for me, 500+ songs on shuffle means the chances of hearing the same song are remote.

I tried my mp3 player in the aux socket and it was crap.

my old headunit had the aux ports on the rear, so got the cables wired up and ran my ipod through that, other half uses one of them transmitters and i'm not 100% happy with that to be honest

it will be a big thick wire, more than likely black but could also be brown!
where the HU sits and you see all the wires coming up to connect, have a rummage down there to see if its been pulled down or something! will be on the left hand side down towards the passenger footwell

If you take the glove box off, you will be able to see more clearly, and you can get your hand in for a rummage around.
