Electric hood problem
«

Can anyone help?
I have a Golf MK1 Convertible; The electric hood refuses to work (although it did maybe 2 months ago). With the key turned to put the power on th windows work and heater etc.. but when pressing the button for the hood I just get a click from the back of the car.
Any Ideas whats up?

You're not trying to put the hood down while the ignition is on are you ?

Yeah, the key is turned to the 1st click. Then pressing the hood switch just makes a clicking sound.

That's your problem then. The hood can only be put up and down if the key is in the ignition but not turned on. If you think about it, it makes sense, if you could put the hood up and down while you were moving it would be dangerous.ÂÂÂ
I know BMW for example can put hoods up and down but only at very low speeds i.e. 5mph but mk1 golfs are not like that. If you can see dash lights on, your hood will not work.ÂÂÂ

Oops, Man I knew that!! What an Idiot, had the car for 3 years and forgot about that!! And I was so certain that I was doing the right thing. Thanks for the reminder;I even read the manual.
Cheers
