The least reliable car manufacturers

No 10. Audi
Failure Rate: 33%
Highest Repair Cost Seen: £7,040

It's another mediocre showing for Audi, it came 25th out of 32 manufacturers last year and it's 26th of 35 this year. It's best-performing three + year-old car is the A4 (05-09), but even that has only an average reliability record.

Not sure I believe any of those figures, and one guys comment summed it up...

Quote
Warranty Directs own website doesnt even match this top 10 list (reliabilityindex.com) what a load of infactual rubbish......... again, not to mention that warranty direct covers only around only 1% of cars on the UK roads and is based on 3 years of data on cars that are over 3 years old only (as the manufacturer warranty covers them until then, infact some cars are even longer than this so are not included). So basically, this article is written on compiled data that excludes 99% of the cars on the road and excludes all cars that are under 3 years old and some 7 years......sounds something everyone should take as gospel then.....not!

After reading a few of those it seems like Japanese are most reliable, and all the vags are pretty crap ! All the most reliable cars are cheaper than the vags too for the same age, even mini is in the top ten. So why has vag got a name for being the best and the likes of the mini which ive heard all horror stories about. Shame the newer type r looks crap would be interested otherwise.

Think the rep comes from times long gone , they used to be built very well with quality parts
Nowadays though its all about cost cutting as competition is fierce i guess ? We had a mk5 golf in a couple of weeks ago quite low mileage, and the paint was literally falling off the sill,s , i think they are still quite reliable though, most of the owners i talk to are quite fond of theyre dub especially if its a deisel .
