The only stupid thing I have done, I was under my old xr3i, taking the last bolts out to remove the alternator, and it slipped out of my hands and fell straight on my face, I did say ouch that jolly hurt, or words to that effect lol, my friends found it highly amusing

that's funny. cheers for the laugh

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Drove away with my locking wheel nut still on the wheel :lipsrsealed:spent all day today getting all 4 off :embarassed:

Ive done that...It fell out while driving down a high street, luckly I managed to find it  again!

Done that too - luckily still had the packaging for the set and ordered a new key online for about a tenner!

Stupidest thing I've ever done... accidentally wired my horn up to my lights on my mk2 jetta.. didn't find out until I finished work at 3AM!

sorry but that has to be one of the funnyest things ive ever heard

had a saxo vtr and the starter had gone so had to bump start it everywhere on my own.
Changed the rad but they are notorious for air locks, ignored mine for a long time until i had to drive 50+ miles things got a little noisy, had to stop the car outside a footballers house with a gravel drive and let the car cool. Then i proceeded to bump the car on my own on his 10ft gravelly drive! pretty much the hardest thing i have ever done on my own!
the car then died with a loud bang and lots of oil 3 miles away from my house on the exit of the m60, cost my £85 to get it towed home!
my biggest mistake was buying a saxo vtr, blew up a few months after, made more squeaks and rattles than a baby with a tin full of ball bearings!

My sister asked me to fit some brake pads to her very sheddy peugeot 406 cause they had gone metal to metal

I was in a bit of a rush that day so threw them in , didnt bother clamping the hose just pushed the piston back , done it this way before thousands of times before  tbh ,never a problem,,until this one !

killed the master cylinder, and as her car was worth about 30 pence i ended scrapping it and buying her a 1.4 polo ! costly favour that was ..

i have done many stupid things when it comes to cars. but the funniest was a few years ago when i bought my second car (after 4 weeks of driving) a rover metro. it was quite dirty when i got it so the day after i got it  i washed it. I noticed that something was keyed in to the bonnet. on closer inspection it said wank!!!! that same weekend some silly old fart reversed into the wing and drove off!! so i was driving a metro, with a dented wing and wank on the bonnet for 10 months!!!! it was then when i tried to push a volvo backwards through the lanes that was when the metro died!!

Deicer on auxillary drive belts does not stop the squealing.  :lipsrsealed:

Fitted an old master cylinder back on (was proper clean in my defence). Struggled ages trying to solve this clutch issue, boss ordered up a slave in the end in desperation and still to this day struggles to believe how the slave was at fault, as I quickly replaced the master cylinder when he wasn't looking.

Done some nifty little things IMO on the road though, wired up my brothers Hyundai fuel pump to the sidelights to get us 120 miles home when the imobilizer packed in, had to bump start it but it got us home.

Wired up the heated seat button to the fans on the Chrysler in Scotland once, still is on there to this day, when it gets warm, just flick the switch (relay is a proper bastard to replace, still dreading one day doing the job).

Tied up some wire round the throttle body on my Golf when it snapped.

Towed a mates van backwards leaving tyre marks everywhere when he binned it into a bank and completely bent the passenger front suspension, towed it into another mates road.

Where all my moneys went.
