Took a week to burn the small amount that was left in there once id drained it and put unleaded in there.

Cant think of anything really daft that I've done, but many years back, my neighbor was a keen DIY'er, this included servicing, and minor repairs to his beloved Rover V8 SD1
He would nose the car up to the entrance to his garage, climb down into his pit, and proceed to pull the car over the pit, so he could do what was required.
This particular day, its believed that the exhaust was blowing on the Rover, so he went through his routine, and pulled the car over his head while he was in the pit, only this time he had the engine running... so he could find what was wrong with the exhaust? Unfortunately, one of the two garage doors blew shut behind the car, and locked in place, like it was supposed to do. trapping him under the car with the engine running... He died of Carbon monoxide poisoning, the car ran out of fuel, and was probably a full day before anyone found him!
Silly sod!

Thom

That sucks and is the very reason that I don't work under my car without telling someone in case something like this were to happen

had a saxo vtr and the starter had gone so had to bump start it everywhere on my own.
Changed the rad but they are notorious for air locks, ignored mine for a long time until i had to drive 50+ miles things got a little noisy, had to stop the car outside a footballers house with a gravel drive and let the car cool. Then i proceeded to bump the car on my own on his 10ft gravelly drive! pretty much the hardest thing i have ever done on my own!
the car then died with a loud bang and lots of oil 3 miles away from my house on the exit of the m60, cost my £85 to get it towed home!
MK3 16v GTI FTW!!!

Pulled up at the pumps today, pressed the button...nothing. Pressed it again, nothing. I was really really really in the red here. I put an arm rest in last week, so I was hoping that I'd just forgotten to connect it back up to the button. As I was so low, and about a 20mile drive home I called trusty dad to bring my tool box to the petrol station, took out the arm rest etc etc and thankfully found it disconnected...tit.

How did you get them off? I am assuming you didn't use a locking wheel nut to get them off?
