Right tyres on mine?
« on: 15 August 2011, 21:04 »
Hey all, right I bought a set of alloys (in sig below) and they came with pretty much new tyres. The brand is Avon? not sure if there budget or not bad? maybe someone can shout that out? anyway.. when its wet my car really likes to slide round roundabouts and bends in the road... is this due to maybe crap branded tyres or does my car need a better spec of tyre because of either the bhp or possibly because its a 4motion? a reply would be good!

Avon are cheap to midrange tyres and I have had them on my old TDI. They wore well but like you say, they weren't the best tyres in the wet.

Cheers for the reply. Yeah well ive still got my standard 17" inch alloys that came on it so might put them back on in winter as they came with Pirelli's which have decent tread still so we'll see if theres any difference. That way i can get these 18's refurbed and get some sweet rubber on them after winter!

Sounds like a good plan. I don't think I'd want the Avons on through winter either - even with your 4WD
