The CXRs are really nice, very popular on Westfields/Caterhams (where low weight is clearly a massive bonus), and the Pro Race 1.2s are decent too.
If you wanna get a bit more serious and you can get a rear anti roll bar that will help the handling quite a bit too, I have an Octavia (same platform as your Golf) and it feels like a bit of a tugboat - RARB should sharpen it up a bit and help with understeer.

No worries - I've not played with any handling stuff on my Octy so can't really help there, sorry about that.
Think there is a chap call Neil on here who has a Mk5 that he uses quite a lot on track, hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in!

Track stuff is all about handling, wouldn't worry too much about blasting down Santa Pod, it'll just rape your clutch, tyres and driveshafts!
Where are you based? Picked up my Westfield from Sharnbrook, can't be far from you!
