Best free file storage online?
« on: 14 August 2011, 19:57 »
Last year a made a Wordpress blog which I dedicated to Jaguar Skills mixes, a one stop shop with all the mixes I could find. I used Dropbox but after not long, I was issued with excessive traffic due to the amount of people using it.

I want to restart this blog but need a reliable online storage solution, one which will allow me to upload these mixes and share them via a link to the public, can anybody help?

There are tonnes mate, Microsoft do SkyDrive which is 25GB and you can share files, not sure what bandwidth usage policy they have though.

Want some online storage? Click here to sign up for a Dropbox account.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I know there are plenty, the problem is space vs bandwidth, I need enough space to store all these files, but also not to have such a cap on the bandwidth, I'll check out SkyDrive. :afro:

Torrents then, only limited to the bandwidth the sharers have. Just put a polite notice on the site saying please keep sharing.

Problem with torrents is people are stupid. They like simple one click downloads.

SkyDrive is a no go, just read up and it's not a one click download place sadly. Will have to keep searching.

No, but it'll give them a shared 'folder' where they see the rest of the files too, iirc.

Otherwise just change dropbox accounts every so often :lipsrsealed:

pay a few pence for a real host, not free storage that isn't aimed at what you are trying to do. eg http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml

Couple of pounds a month isn't bad, do they provide the ability to upload MP3s and supply direct links to download?

It would be your own virtual server, you could do what you like, within reason, with it - just like your portfolio site
