Recommend me a netbook
« on: 14 August 2011, 17:10 »
Can someone recommend me a netbook with wifi, webcam & mic, VGA TV output, 250gb + of HD space and 5-6+ Hours of battery life for under £280? Needs to have a decent CPU and graphics processor as well as Windows 7. Would ideally like 2gb of ram

Most netbooks come with 1gb of ram but its like 12 quid for a 2gb ram as for graphics the onlything you will get in that price range is a netbook with a ion chip like the samsung n510 other than that most netbooks except the alienware x11 which is 700 quid lol dont have graphics chips or cards... to be honest mate any Samsung netbook is good and a few will play games obviously not high powered games i had the n510 for offshore and it played a lot of games i diddnt think it could handle like call of duty 2 etc...... look on amazon mate some great deals

The one at PC world has the Atom N570 CPU where as the one in the link has the N455. I know it's £70 cheaper but the N455 sounds like an older model? Also what's the difference with the 2001sa and other 200Xsa models?

I'd go Samsung as well.  The spec's they do won't blow any other manufacturer out of the water, but Samsung's have excellent battery life and seem to be build really well.  I dropped my old one countless times and it was still fine.

It's worth noting that Netbooks are only going to do exactly what they're named, net stuff, and pretty slowly.  All the netbooks with the Atom processors are just too slow.  You're going to want to throw it through a window trying to get one to cope with Windows Vista or 7.

We have an Atom powered Acer Aspire One, which has 2 major flaws: 2 hours battery life (when new, its more like 20 mins now) and its slow. We've used various linux based OS's over the past 2 years and its slow whichever you decide to run. That said it only has 128mb of RAM.

I don't think a semi will give the same results
