Replacing boot badge/handle
« on: 14 August 2011, 16:32 »
Has anyone replaced the boot badge on their mk5, mine is just showing a couple of marks of whiteworm on the edges.  Have done a search but nothing has flagged up, does the whole unit have to be changed out or is it just the badge itself?

If you can just get the vw emblem then you'll be lucky as vw only sell it with the full boot opening mechanism.
Be aware that even if you get the emblem by itself, it may not fit as there are two versions, each with a different tab at the rear configuration.
Without traction power is nothing!

search my threads as i did a swap on this.

to take it out you need to remove the inside plastic trim (2 screws and a sharp pull)
then you shouls see the mechanism with 5 torx bolts. remove these and also the connecting cable and it will just come out.

as above there are 2 types, and any 3D one will generally not fit (without modification )
