Fag lighter weirdness
« on: 13 August 2011, 19:10 »
So I decided to fix my fag lighter so I can charge my phone in the car. Diagnosed the old lighter was duff as it had 12v to the back but nothing in the socket. Bought a new lighter from Halfords, had to file the hole a bit bigger to get it all to fit but no real problem there. Wired it all up and result, lighter has 12v in the socket. BUT nothing works when plugged into it, not the lighter itself or my phone charger.  I checked and re checked the polarity is correct and there is 12v+ in the centre of the socket and the outside is going to earth. It should therefore work, why the hell doesn't it?

They're all making connection OK, very odd. Going to try hooking up with a different feed and inline fuse and see if that works.
