General views on a VR6
« on: 13 August 2011, 01:15 »
As many have read I bought a 96 VR6 a week ago.

So far I am very pleased with her, lots of torque, nice to drive, fast, little bit thirsty but she is a 2.8 V6.

Just wondering what other people think to them, previous owners of them, owners now and other general views.

Also mine came with a s/s exhaust......Would she benefit from an induction kit as I remember my GTE 16v was far better with the standard airbox due to heat soak.

Nope standard airbox, panel filter and cold air feed are much better

I'd love to own one but i just couldn't live with the mpg's and given that most VR's are getting on a bit now the timing chain issue, i would imagine these factors have been the end for some very nice cars.

There great if you can afford them  The people that can afford them though normally go for R32's or mk5 gti

Everyone would still buy them if the fuel was still 87p a litre.

I would say they are fat, underpowered, front heavy under steering sons of b!tches. If I wasn't so lazy I would do a 1.8T conversion! But I'm happy with how it is now, the noise is lovely! I've also shocked a few MK4 1.8T owners!
