Hand brake doesn't lock off? do you mean its not releasing or not holding?

You'll need to replace the fuel filler pipe. Its a common problem as all the mud etc., sprays up from the rear wheel onto it causing it to rust through.
You can get replacement fuel filler pipes and if you look hard enough you'll come across the odd stainless one that Autocavan used to sell. Not aware of anyone that manufactures the stainless one anymore.

Seats bolster wear is common too. You'll have to keep your eyes open for a good set.
Does anyone know if its possible to buy the bolster 'foam' from VW and for that matter the cover?

Aaah the usual problems!!!!

You can get any of the seat bits from VW anymore, just have to hunt around and see what you can find!!!

Rich, what did you actually pay for that white mk1?? I reckon you may have had an even better bargain than I got with the Campaign.

I didn't pay anything.........just bought the guy a couple of beers.
He was going to scrap it........I just stepped in to prevent it going to the scrappy.

No, fuel pump is siezed. It turns over OK. Its been sat in a garage for 5 years. I only bought it for spares but have subsequently found that it is far too good to scrap.
Unfortunately I simply don't have any time to spend on it at the moment, so it will be mothballed for now. Its got that 4 into 2 exhaust manifold that I have been after for the cabrio so it was worth getting for that alone.

plenty of feedback then - you should try 205 section tyres then - forearms like Popeye :)
