poor radio reception
« on: 10 August 2011, 20:10 »
hi all, got a small bee sting fitted to the car and the reception is not much less than awful!!!!!

is it due to what i have fitted? ive checked the condition of the cable behind the stereo and the connection to the back of the stereo and all looks good. can anyone recommend a good aerial for reception?

Get a boosted one, peanuts on fleebay. You will need to wire it to a constant 12v feed though, I wired mine into my central locking pump and works a treat!

The 12v cable is in the actual antenna. Is yours mounted in the front wing or on the roof? If its from the wing then the feed to the radio from ignition is your best bet or as suggested, ciggie lighter. If its on the roof, then rear light cluster or central locking pump like I have done.

Just run a roof aerial with a built in amp, take the feed from the electric aerial feed.

I bought a cheap shark fin one off Ebay with a built in booster.

When i connected the 12v live to a 12v supply it all got hot !!!.

I later fitted a front one above the interior light and used an inline signal booster.Worked well.
