really? im a bit doubtful, looks like a hell of a lot of damage, parts alone would outprice the cars worth i reckon.

Recent edition of EVO - Mclaren have a facility dedicated to keeping the F1s on the road, where owners spend hundreds of thousands on the cars, just personalising them when they buy them, or rebuilding them when they're binned.

The remains will go in, a good-as-new one will come out. 

If it's insured for $4m then there's a big chunk of cash that can be spent getting it back together!

As Rowan Atkinson is a high profile customer of Maclaren, I can't see them not doing their best to rebuild the car or swapping it to help him out. Real shame to see it so badly out of shape

I cant see the problem... it got pranged, they'll fix it, everything can be repaired... its only money!

yeah, id love to see it back on the road, even if its back in the hands of the bloke who crashed it, but i can see parts being more expensive than they were when it was built, and a fire in a car is never good news. not to mention if mclaren themselves are to fix it the labour costs would be astronomical, no insurance company would pay out, only chance its got is mclaren being generous or mr bean paying himself

It's an amazing car which is supposed to be driven.  Accidents happen.  I have huge respect for Rowan Atkinson for driving it nearly as a daily driver.  Gordon Murray has one which has also done a significant mileage - these guys are proper car guys.

I don't think you get this - there's a large portion of the $4m it's insured for which is available to pay to repair the car.  That's why one assumes Mr Atkinson pays a huge amount to insure the thing.  Do you think the insurance company's going to go in looking for an aftermarket exhaust so they won't pay out?

but do you really think an insurance company is gonna pay 3-4 million to get it repaired when they can just write it off and pay out less, there businesses at the end of the day and are there to make money, especially in a recession.

and i dont agree with this car being a daily driver cos its not, its such a special car and i was actually a bit gutted when i seen the pic of the crash, would still rather have an f1 than any other car, veyron or anything

Yes.  Because it's good PR.

All the more reason to use it as a daily driver.

If the architect of the car uses his very regularly that's sufficient mandate to me to say they're cars built to be used plenty.

It's because they were designed and built to be used, see, not put on a f*cking pedestal.  At the end of the day it's only tin and rubber.
