Newbie looking for Mk5 GTi info :)
« on: 05 August 2011, 12:20 »
Hi all im Matt im 22 and from Welling in Kent...i currently drive a cooper S which was about 190WHP but has since been split ready to be sold...im aware the GTI wont feel the same as its turbo and my Supercharger was instant power. I have a budget of around £7.5k and have seen plenty for sale around that budget, now is there any real issues to look out for? im looking at cars with around 65k miles so at this mileage or more are there issues or do you avoid them? never owned a VW but i get the impression of them being very reliable...i love my mrs TT and of course the golf will not stay stock for long :) any help will be great

I have owned my Mark 5 GTI for about 2 years.

Not had any major issues, it as 61k on the clock and runs smoothly (Fingers crossed), I would make sure it has a FVWSH and that the cambelt has been changed. I have had to get two new front wings replaced due to the arches bubbling which was done under warrenty.

You wont be disapointed.

you say this but my little beast is probably the greatest driving car ive driven (bar 911 gt3) most people say they are womens cars but with a chassis thats 50% stiffer then most hothatches, throw in fully APs, fully poly bushed and 190WHP in an 1100kg car i can tell you its fun :) but i realy enjoyed the golf i drove so with a few mods i think it will be the perfect car for what im after :)

heres how she sounded with a janspedd mani/decat and piper cat back combo

:undecided: No offense, and I know I have a Gt, but I don't like Minis, that's just my opinion.
Good upgrade to a Gti IMO
