De-rusting under kit

Quick question - Like a few of us I intend to remove the kit and see what is under it this Spring. The Haynes manual is cack.
I see that I need to remove the rear bumper(1990 16v) to get the rear arches off as there is a rivet behind the bumper. My question is - Do the sill covers just pull off & can this be done without breaking the mounting clips behind?
Cheers Big Ears

not easily, they have a tendancy to snap either at the side strip mount or at the fixing part mount. no tips either i'm afraid, mine are held on with sikoflex.

Ive never noticed a rivet behind the bumper. Do you mean the wheel arch trim?

Yeah - There is a rivet that hold the rear of the rear arch trim and to get to it you have to eiither remove or loosen & move back the rear bumper.
