« on: 15 September 2003, 15:08 »
Looking at buying a Golf tonight.
Its a 1988 Cabrio....

I know the hand brake ratchet is broken (cheap to fix?)

What should i look for... How much is it worth (110k miles)

check for leaks/tears in the roof (seats should show signs of leaks dripping on them.
Ask if it comes with a tonneau cover for the roof when its down, as they are good to have but not too easy to get hold of seond hand
Check all the electrics work properly too.- especially the roof it is electric.
Just general second hand car problems, as they are pretty reliable motors.
I'm sure Rich (Richandhazel) will give you the mechanics low down

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think its 112 bhp.
Its a different type of drive to what you are used to.
I have owned Integras, Celica GT4s, BMW 325is, and too many sports bikes to name, but none compared to the fun you will get from a cabby - 50 mph with the roof down is a big enough buzz on its own, and its a better head turner than anything I've owned 8)
Just sit in and smile, especially at that price ;)
