petrol light?

please could some one help me. my mk4 golf gti came on the the petrol light so i put £20 of petrol in and its still on the petrol light and the gadge isnt movin??

Disconnect the battery for a bit, then put it back on. I had a focus that did that, it never went up when it got into the red. Also the range on the MFA never registered so I panicked a bit the first time. Probs just the fuel level sender. Didnt get round to fixing it on the focus cos I hated it and sold it not long after it started happening.

Pull the plug off the sender and earth it out, if the gauge goes up your sender is knackered.

its under the back seats isnt it? where should i earth it from?
