I know mate, I had it advertised at £750 for months and had no interest at all (well, apart from messers (one on here )), it got to the point where I just needed whatever cash I could get for it.

OK, flame proof suit on.

The head gasket is gone. The guy I bought it from screwed me over, he mustve put some fresh oil and water in cos they were fine when I checked it! Now I know why he couldnt find that particular bit of service history :undecided:

Anyway - Im getting it fixed. I have really fallen for this little beaut! £300 for the MLS gasket, cambelt, water pump and oil rail. All done in 5 hours at my home address on Saturday morning.

If anyone gives a sh!t then I'll let you know how it goes!

He took your head off, got a milling machine out and machined the head on your drive all in 5 hours?

I give it a few months.

No, hes an MG specialist, he bought a skimmed and pressure tested head with him. He then swaps them over, if mine had been scrap then it wouldve cost me more to buy the head off him.

Head gasket replacement really isnt a problem on K series engines anyway. In fact, after watching him, Id feel confident in doing it myself if there is a next time!

You could pay more than that to get a cam belt/ chain fitted to some golfs.
