If you are serious about finding it I think the DVLA will give you a list of owners for an admin fee (£25 rings a bell).

Yeah, a fair point. I just vaguely remembered seeing a form for the past owners trace somewhere.

I could be wrong but I think you can obtain info on a current owner only if in relation to an accident....
